Privacy without the mystery.

ServiceDax collects only the information needed to operate the site, protect its research, and respond to correction requests. This policy explains what we receive, what we do with it, and the choices available to you.

Privacy at a glance

  • You can browse ServiceDax without creating an account.
  • We do not run advertising pixels or behavioral analytics as of the date above.
  • We do not operate as an affiliate site or collect commissions or referral fees from listed vendors.
  • We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We collect correction-request information only when you choose to provide it.
  • An unfinished correction draft is stored in your browser and is not sent to us until you submit it.

ServiceDax is an independent field service software research directory published by Yael Cohen. In this Privacy Policy, “ServiceDax,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to ServiceDax and Yael Cohen as its operator.

Where applicable law uses terms such as “controller,” “business,” or an equivalent, Yael Cohen, operating ServiceDax, determines why and how the personal information described here is processed.

This policy applies to servicedax.com, its correction-request workflow, direct communications sent to ServiceDax, and the administration of correction requests and related editorial records. It does not govern a third-party site or service linked from ServiceDax.

Information we collect

Information you provide

If you submit a correction request, we may collect:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your relationship to a listed company and the name of your organization.
  • The vendor, page, section, or statement involved.
  • The claim you dispute and the wording you propose.
  • Evidence links, evidence type, context, dates, score impact, and time sensitivity.
  • Other information you place in a free-text field or send to us.

If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any information or attachments you include.

Do not send unnecessary sensitive information

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, account credentials, payment-card data, medical information, passwords, confidential customer records, or other sensitive information that is not necessary to evaluate a correction. ServiceDax does not ask for those categories through its correction form.

Information collected automatically

When you visit ServiceDax, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically receive limited technical information, including:

  • Internet Protocol address and approximate country or region.
  • Browser, operating-system, device, language, and user-agent information.
  • Requested pages, referring URL, timestamps, and network or diagnostic events.
  • HTTP headers and information needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
  • Information associated with suspected abuse, fraud, or security incidents.

The ServiceDax correction database stores the submitter's user-agent string and the country code supplied with the request. ServiceDax does not intentionally store a correction submitter's full IP address in the correction record. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request logs as part of hosting, delivery, and security.

Public and third-party sources

ServiceDax researches software vendors using public sources. Research may include professional or business information about founders, executives, employees, and other people acting in a commercial capacity. Sources may include company sites, registries, app stores, review platforms, social media, legal or regulatory materials, and other publicly accessible records. The original source controls its own privacy practices.

How we use information

We may process personal information to:

  • Operate, deliver, maintain, and secure ServiceDax.
  • Receive, authenticate, investigate, and respond to correction requests.
  • Communicate about a correction, dispute, source, or privacy request.
  • Preserve an editorial accountability record and document how a request was handled.
  • Research, verify, update, and defend published material.
  • Diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and protect the site, its readers, and its operator.
  • Comply with law, legal process, court orders, and enforceable government requests.
  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and enforce applicable rights and policies.

We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without giving any notice or obtaining any permission required by law. ServiceDax does not use this information for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Legal bases for EEA and UK processing

Where European data-protection law applies, we rely on one or more of:

  • Legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, evaluating corrections, maintaining research integrity, preventing abuse, communicating with submitters, and handling legal claims.
  • Consent where we specifically request it. Withdrawal is prospective and does not invalidate processing already performed lawfully.
  • Legal obligation where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law or binding legal process.
  • Public information and legal claims where law permits processing of information made manifestly public or processing needed to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.

Providing information through the correction form is voluntary. Without the required name, email, disputed claim, and proposed correction, we cannot receive a request through that form. You may contact us by email.

Browser storage, cookies, and similar technologies

Correction-form drafts

The correction form uses browser local storage under the keyservicedax:correction-draft:v1. It keeps an unfinished draft and the current step available in the same browser. The draft stays on your device and is not sent to ServiceDax until you submit the form. The site attempts to remove it after a successful submission. You can remove it sooner by clearing ServiceDax site data in your browser.

Do not begin a correction request on a shared or public device unless you are comfortable with the draft remaining there until submitted or cleared.

Cookies and tracking

As of the effective date, ServiceDax does not intentionally deploy advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or behavioral analytics. Cloudflare and other infrastructure providers may use strictly necessary cookies, security signals, or comparable mechanisms to provide, protect, and troubleshoot their services.

ServiceDax loads typefaces through Google Fonts. When your browser requests those files, Google may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser information, and the requested resource. Google's own terms and policies govern its processing.

If we introduce analytics, advertising, personalization, or other non-essential tracking, we will update this policy and provide any notice, consent mechanism, or opt-out required by law.

When we disclose information

We may disclose personal information in these circumstances:

  • Infrastructure and service providers. Providers may include Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, security, DNS, and database infrastructure; Google Fonts for font delivery; and providers used to receive and store email.
  • At your direction or with your permission. For example, we may contact a vendor or source when your request authorizes it.
  • Editorial verification. We may share the minimum information reasonably necessary to authenticate evidence or resolve a correction. We do not publish a submitter's contact information merely because the person submitted a correction.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • Professional advisers. We may disclose information to attorneys, accountants, insurers, auditors, or advisers subject to professional or contractual duties of confidentiality.
  • Business transfer. If ServiceDax or substantially all relevant assets are sold, transferred, reorganized, financed, or involved in a merger, insolvency, or similar transaction, information may be reviewed or transferred subject to law and appropriate safeguards.

No sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or financial incentives

ServiceDax does not sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or process it for targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state laws.

ServiceDax does not operate as an affiliate site. We do not use affiliate links or receive commissions, referral fees, lead fees, or other compensation when a reader visits, contacts, signs up with, or buys from a listed vendor. Our disclosures page is the current public record of commercial and personal relationships involving listed companies.

We have not knowingly sold or shared the personal information of anyone under 16. We do not offer a financial incentive, loyalty program, or price difference in exchange for personal information.

Because there is currently no sale, sharing, or targeted-advertising processing to opt out of, ServiceDax does not provide a separate opt-out mechanism. If that changes, we will update the site and honor legally recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control, where required.

Retention and security

How long we keep information

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes in this policy, including security, editorial integrity, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and legal claims. Retention depends on the category and context:

  • Correction submissions and handling history are kept while the relevant research or profile remains active and for a reasonable archival period afterward. We may retain them longer to preserve a reliable audit trail, document an editorial decision, resolve a dispute, comply with law, or defend a claim.
  • Direct communications are kept as needed to respond, maintain an appropriate business or editorial record, and satisfy legal or operational requirements.
  • Security and request logs are kept according to operational need and provider retention settings or policies.
  • Local correction drafts stay in your browser until the site removes them after successful submission or you clear site data.
  • Public-source research records may be retained as an historical editorial record, subject to applicable law and valid requests about inaccurate or unlawfully processed information.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, de-identify, aggregate, or securely isolate it, subject to backup cycles, technical limits, and lawful exceptions. We may keep a minimal record of a request and response when needed to demonstrate compliance or preserve the integrity of the corrections process.

Security

ServiceDax uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. Measures may include encrypted transmission, managed hosting and database infrastructure, administrative access controls, restricted credentials, input validation, and operational monitoring.

No Internet transmission, storage system, or security control is infallible. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ServiceDax does not warrant that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, lost, or destroyed without authorization. If we become aware of a breach, we will investigate and give notice where and as required by law.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • Know whether we process personal information about you.
  • Access, correct, or request deletion of personal information.
  • Receive certain information in a portable format.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.
  • Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling.
  • Appeal the denial of a request.
  • Receive equal service and not be discriminated against for exercising a right.

Email [email protected]with the subject Privacy Request. Describe the right you want to exercise and the information or interaction involved.

We may reasonably verify your identity and authority before acting. This can include confirming control of the email used in the original communication or identifying the relevant submission. Verification data is used only for authentication, fraud prevention, and compliance.

An authorized agent may submit a request where law permits. We may require proof of authority and may ask you to verify your identity or confirm the authorization directly. We will respond within the legally required period. If we extend, deny, or cannot fulfill a request, we will explain the reason and any applicable appeal right.

Information may be exempt where retention or processing is needed for security, legal compliance, free-expression interests, legal claims, internal uses reasonably aligned with expectations, or the rights of others.

Supplemental notice for California residents

This section describes the categories ServiceDax may collect, their sources and purposes, recipient categories, and retention criteria. It does not concede that ServiceDax meets every threshold for application of the California Consumer Privacy Act.

During the preceding 12 months, depending on use of the site, we may have collected:

  • Identifiers: name, email address, IP address, and online or device identifiers.
  • Customer-record information: contact and organization information submitted in a correction or communication.
  • Internet or network activity: browser and device data, requests, diagnostics, pages requested, referring information, and correction-form interactions.
  • Approximate geolocation: country or general region inferred from a network request. The correction form does not request precise geolocation.
  • Professional information: organization, title, role, or vendor relationship voluntarily provided, and public professional information used in research.
  • Electronic or visual information: attachments, screenshots, photographs, or evidence voluntarily sent to us.
  • Communications and content: correction claims, proposed wording, evidence, context, correspondence, and editorial records.
  • Potentially sensitive information: not requested, but a person could voluntarily place it in free text or an attachment. Please do not do so unless strictly necessary and lawful.

We collect these categories directly from users, automatically from devices and infrastructure, and from public or third-party sources. We use and disclose them for the purposes stated above. Recipients may include infrastructure and email providers, professional advisers, parties involved in authorized verification, legal authorities, and transaction participants. We apply the retention criteria in this policy.

California residents may request access, correction, deletion, or information about collection and disclosure, subject to law. They may use an authorized agent and may not be discriminated against for exercising a right. ServiceDax does not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes as of the effective date.

Other U.S. state privacy laws

Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws may have comparable rights. Availability depends on statutory thresholds, the information and processing involved, and legal exceptions. Submit or appeal a request through the method above. ServiceDax does not currently sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or profile people in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

International visitors and data transfers

If European data-protection law applies, ServiceDax acts as controller for the processing described here. You may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent, subject to law. You may also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority where you live, work, or believe a violation occurred. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve it.

ServiceDax and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries that may not offer the same legal protections as your home jurisdiction. Where required, transfers will rely on an approved legal mechanism or applicable exception. Providers may maintain their own transfer mechanisms and disclosures.

Children

ServiceDax is a business-software research site and is not directed to children under 13 or the higher minimum age established by local law. We do not knowingly collect a child's personal information in violation of law. Contact us if you believe a child supplied information so we can investigate and act appropriately.

Third-party links and resources

ServiceDax links to vendors, registries, app stores, review platforms, social networks, legal materials, and other third parties. Following a link allows the third party to receive information under its own systems and policies. ServiceDax does not control and is not responsible for a third party's privacy, security, accuracy, availability, or conduct. A citation identifies a source; it does not mean ServiceDax controls, endorses, or is endorsed by that source.

Policy changes and contact

We may amend this policy to reflect changes in the site, data practices, providers, or law. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Material changes will receive reasonably prominent notice where required. Unless law requires otherwise, changes apply prospectively from their effective date. Continued use does not waive any non-waivable notice or consent right.

This policy describes ServiceDax's practices and is intended to satisfy applicable notice obligations.
